Department of Theory and Practice of foreign languages

 The Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages was established on April 6, 2011, in accordance with the order No. 483-41 from 06.04. 2011 to split the Department of Foreign Languages into  Two different departments: the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages and the Department of Foreign Language Philology. The Department of Romance-German Philology opened at the S.Seifullin Tselinograd State Pedagogical Institute in 1962 was the origin of the department.

 

The main function of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Chair is to train qualified specialists, bachelors and masters with knowledge of English as their first language and French / German / Chinese / Spanish / Italian as a second foreign language, with deep theoretical and practical training, strong professional knowledge, skills and techniques corresponding to the state educational standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Bologna Convention.

The department provides teaching of linguodidactic and linguistic disciplines and gives students the opportunity to acquire practical skills of teaching English in schools and universities for their high competitiveness in the Kazakhstani labor market in the implementation of their professional activities: teaching, educational, research, etc. in two educational programs:

The number of students of the chair equals 466 students, of which 418 B.A. students (358 students are holders of state grants, 60 are trained on a contract basis) and 49 undergraduates (40 master students are holders of state grants, 9 are trained on a contract basis).

 In the years 2006-2008, the chair was headed by Candidate of Philology, Assistant Professor, specialist in the field of English morphology and phonology Ninel Ekibayeva (scientific school: Moscow Institute of Linguistics of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

 

 

In the years 2011-2012 the chair was headed by Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor, specialist in theory and methodology of teaching English, sociolinguistics and lexicology Sulkarnayeva Assiya Rafailovna

 

 

From 2012 to 2017, the chair was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, specialist in the field of teaching foreign languages Baidrakhmanov Dosym Khasenovich.

 

 

Since August 11, 2017, the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Chair has been headed by Candidate of Philology, Acting Assistant Professor, simultaneous interpreter Beisembayeva Zhanna Alibiyevna

 

 

At present, the staff of the chair comprises 31 people, including 8 candidates of pedagogical and philological sciences, 2 PhDs, 18 masters, 6 of which have been trained in foreign universities by the International Bolashak Program (USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Netherlands).

The research direction of the department is the study of theoretical and applied aspects of philology and methods of teaching foreign languages ​​in the concept of language policy and the philosophy of foreign language education. The main tasks of the department include the development of modern models, technologies and new approaches to the teaching of foreign languages.

The teaching staff of the Foreign Languages ​​Theory and Practice Chair includes scientists – holders of the title “Best University Professor” (Zhussupova R.F.), scholarship holders of the international program “Bolashak” (Narmukhametova N.M., Abdykhalykova A.M., Baltynova A.Sh., Dukembay G.N., Latanova R.U.), authors of papers in the database Thompson Reuters and Scopus (Zhussupova R.F., Anasheva D.K., Gauriyeva G.M., Kozhakanova M.T., Beisenbayeva L.Zh., Orynbek G., Doszhan G.A., Akynova D.) as well as fellows of other programs (Abdykhalykova A.M., Beisembayeva Zh.A., Ibragimova K.E., Kozhakhmetova G.A., Tulegenova A.M., Anasheva D.K., Narmukhametova N.M., Zhussupova R.F.).

 

 

 

 

 

Graduates of a major in “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages ​​(basic English) work as teachers and lecturers of the English language at secondary educational institutions and higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Many graduates of the chair are employed in the language departments of the L.N.
