On Saturday, 23 November, in the conference hall of the Eurasian National University, “Сheckers- 64 tournament” devoted to Abai’s 175 Anniversary was held. The tournament was organized by the Faculty of Philology, with the support of the Astana School of Docks, at the university level with the assistance of the primary trade union organization of ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov and sponsors.
The contest was organized by the dean of the Philological Faculty Beisenbay A.B., Deputy Dean for educational work Gabdrakhman T.S., the Head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages Beisembayeva Z. A., Senior Lecturer of the Philological Faculty Issayev S.I.
Dean of the Philological Faculty A.B.Beisenbay made a welcoming speech and wished all the participants success.
The competition aroused great interest among students. About 100 participants took part in the tournament. At the initial stage, qualifying games were held, and 10 girls and 40 boys were selected to the main draw of the tournament. According to the circular system, the winners of the competitions were determined. So, among the girls, Maksut Assem won the first place with 18 points, second place was taken by Muberekova Asyl with 13,5 points. The third place was taken by Emenova Nazira and Kasimova Madina. Among the boys, Assetov Aslan won the first place. Second place was won by Khovdbay Khaday. Third place went to Maral Zhomart and Khadyskhan Mukhammed. At the end of the tournament, the prize-winners were awarded with cups and medals, as well as prizes from sponsors and organizers.
Judging was carried out by the main judge Dyusebayev Tleubek and the main secretaries Abishev Kalkesh and Shalov Murat. The tournament itself was interesting and made a great impression on the participants. This tournament is planned to be held traditionally.
