Independence Day at the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages

On December 14, 2020, students of the FL-31 group and the tutor Damira B. Akynova (Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Philology, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University) organized a festive event “Тәуелсіздік тұғырым” on the Microsoft Teams platform on the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.  

            The Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan is our paramount value and rightfully the main national holiday that unites all citizens of our vast homeland, calling for a sense of responsibility for the fate of the country. This holiday is a symbol of freedom and courage of the Kazakh people. The years of independence gave us the opportunity to build a prosperous state in the center of Eurasia and a worthy place in the world community.

Within the framework of the state policy of trilingualism, students presented their speeches in Kazakh, Russian and English. The festive event in three languages ​​was hosted by Zhansaya Dauletbayeva, Gulmira Ibrayeva and Elnaz Serikova, who helped students and lecturers to plunge into a warm and festive atmosphere. The event was opened by a video with a speech by the famous Kazakh writer and poet Mukhtar Shakhanov in the Kremlin about the concealment of the facts of the violent suppression of the 1986 December events.

Gulfariya Beishembekova performed the poem Желтоқсан желі. Ayaulym Asanova expressed gratitude to our ancestors for the independence, warming the audience with the poem “Бабаларым рахмет сендерге”.  Alua Zhumagaliyeva sang all the beauty of our vast country with the poem “Kazakhstan”. Gulnazym Serikbayeva recited W.R. Emerson's “A Nation’s strength”, reminding all of us that only courageous, smart, inquisitive, honest and decent people make the state powerful. The students of the group sang the song “Желтоқсан желі in chorus. And, of course, it is impossible to imagine a national holiday without the sound of dombra. The guest of the event, Zhanarys Asan, performed the kui “Өрлеу”. Aidana Zhumagazina and Madina Tokenova presented the song Қара бауыр қасқалдақ, having previously framed the story of the origin of the song performed by Gulfariya Beishembekova. Olzhas Suleimenov's wonderful words about the homeland, our role in the formation of the homeland, our responsibility to it were presented by Alua Zhumagaliyeva and Madiya Arykova. For feedback from the audience, the presenters held a quiz on the symbols, history and modernity of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The organizers demonstrated the videos about the formation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The head of the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages, the candidate of philological aciences, associate professor Zh.A. Beisembayeva, senior tutor N.M. Narmukhametova, lecturers and students of the department attended the event. Zhanna A. Beisembayeva expressed gratitude to the organizers of the festive event, and urged all those present to remember the difficult and thorny path of our people and be proud of it. Nazgul M. Narmukhametova wished the group success and urged them to be people useful to society, to learn and love the country, its history and culture. At the end of the program, words of gratitude were expressed to all participants and organizers of the festive event.
