On April 20, 2023, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan, teachers of the Department of Practical Kazakh Language, associate professors K.E. Tilesh, Karybaeva S.E. held a city linguistic tournament, that is intellectually interesting team competition (game) among students of higher educational institutions in Astana.
The tournament was attended by students of the A.K.Kusainov Eurasian Humanitarian Institute, Astana International University, IT University of Astana, M.S.Narikbaev Kazakh Law Humanitarian University and members of the cultural and educational club «Asyl Mura», created at the department of practical Kazakh language.
The tournament was held in three stages. At the first stage, the winning teams among their participants were determined. The second stage was a semi-final game, which was attended by the teams that won the first stage. According to the results of the final game in the 3rd stage, the winners of the Tournament were determined. The winners and team leaders of the tournament were awarded 1st, 2nd, 3rd degree diplomas, letters of thanks, and books were presented as gifts. The moderator of the tournament was Associate Professor of the Department of Practical Kazakh Language, developer of the linguistic board game «Shanyrak» Karybayeva S.E.
The purpose of the Shanyrak board game used at the tournament is to explain the hidden word to a teammate (in some cases, to the players of the opposite team), without using gestures and pronouncing the hidden word and words with the same root. The game set includes a playing field with multi-colored chips, an hourglass and 430 cards with 8 words and tasks to complete.

The game became an interesting addition to the study of the Kazakh language and made it possible to increase and accumulate a «fireproof reserve» of the players' vocabulary. Thus, the participants developed not only vocabulary, but also logic, oratory skills, as well as the ability to competently, freely, easily speak Kazakh without a language barrier.
1st place was taken by students of the M.S.Narikbaev University (KAZGUU), 2nd place students of the A.K.Kusainov Eurasian Humanitarian Institute and Astana International University, 3rd place students of Astana IT University and of ENU L.N.Gumilyov.
The results of the tournament were summed up by the head of the department of practical Kazakh language, associate professor K.Kulmanov together with associate professor K.Tilesh and awarded the participants.
