On October 14-15, 2019 Kaunas in Lithuania was hosting the work of the International Educational Summit entitled “QS in Conversation. Enhancing Visibility Through International Cooperation: Mobility, Recognition, Branding”.
The organizers of this international event were: the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, one of the leading universities in Kazakhstan by QS rankings, Vytautas Magnus University, one of the leading and most experienced universities in higher education in Lithuania and the QS Quarquarelli Symonds International ranking agency.
The forum was attended by representatives of education, science, business, healthcare, etc.
The delegation of ENU, headed by the university Rector Ye. Sydykov, took an active part in the two-day work of the forum, where there were rich reports, presentations, discussions and meetings.
Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Zh. Beisembayeva represented the Faculty of Philology at the forum in the Lithuanian university, where she was able to meet the leadership of the Faculty of Humanities of the Vytautas Magnus University: Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, PhD Ruta Eidukeviciene and Head of Educational Programs in English at the Faculty of Social Sciences, PhD Jurgita Vaičenonienė.
Cooperation between the faculties of the two partner universities began on March 15, 2019, when the philological faculty of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University was visited by a delegation from Vytautas Magnus University (Kaunas, Lithuania) headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, PhD Ruta Eidukeviciene.
During the meeting held in the city of Kaunas on October 16, 2019 at the Faculty of Humanities of the Vytautas Magnus University, representatives of the Kazakh and Lithuanian parties were able to discuss the possibilities of developing joint double-degree programs of study within scientific and pedagogical magistracy of the group of educational programs “ Foreign Language Teacher Training” . The content of the existing programs in the partner universities allowed the leaders of the educational programs to draw parallels and find common grounds in them: training in the 1st and 4th semesters at ENU, in the 2nd and 3rd semesters – at the Lithuanian university; disciplines of compulsory and elective components will be determined by the developers of the joint working curriculum during its development; many theoretical and practical courses coincide in their wording and content. The biggest achievement of these events is the determination of the need of the two partner universities to create a joint program to train English teachers.
It’s the first time that QS held its conference in the Baltic States, in Lithuania. The initiative to hold this conference primarily originated from the L.N. Gumilyov ENU leadership. The Faculty of Philology sincerely congratulates the whole university with the achievements that we ENU demonstrate this year based on the results of our participation in the QS world ranking.
Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Beisembayeva Zh. is taking the opportunity to thank the university Rector Ye. Sydykov and the First Vice-Rector – Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs A. Moldazhanova for the opportunity to participate in the work of the International Summit “QS in Conversation. Enhancing Visibility Through International Cooperation: Mobility, Recognition, Branding ”, listen to the most informative and rich reports of speakers from near and far abroad. The business trip to the Vytautas Magnus University made it possible, among other things, to conduct negotiations on the possibilities of creating double-degree programs, which means developing further closer cooperation with the Lithuanian universities.
