January 18, 2020 according to the University Plan, the regional subject Olympiad in English was held in the format of the international IELTS exam at the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages of L.N. Gumilyev Eurasian National University.
Registration of participants in the subject Olympiad began at 9.00. According to the results, 132 students of educational institutions of the city of Nur-Sultan and the Akmola region were registered.
The opening of the Olympiad took place in the conference hall of the educational and laboratory building, where the Head of the Center for Career Guidance and Testing of ENU M.S. Aralkhanov and Dean of the Faculty of Philology A.B. Beisenbay made a welcoming speech. Pupils heard from representatives of the university administration instructions and wishes for success in participating in the Olympiad, as well as brief information about the upcoming Open Doors, which will be held at L.N. Gumilyov ENU in a week.
To participate in the IELTS Olympiad at 132 students of the 10th and 11th grades of the city of Nur-Sultan and the Akmola region arrived L.N. Gumilyov ENU, accompanied by English teachers and class teachers from 35 secondary schools: 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 15, 17, 18, 22, 27, 30, 35, 37, 40, 42, 48, 55, 60, 64, 65, 66, 67, 71, 73, 80, 81, 85, BIL, KTL, UO "Stolichniy", NIS , Economic Lyceum.
The Olympiad was held in four stages: the 1st stage - listening, the 2nd stage - reading, the 3rd stage - writing, the 4th stage - speaking. The participants in the subject Olympiad showed the commission of the department of theory and practice of foreign languages, headed by the head Beisembaeva Zh.A. good knowledge of the English language, skills at school listening to authentic English texts, speed reading and understanding, searching for answers to numerous questions, keywords.
After lengthy discussions by members of the commission on receiving answers from the participants of the Olympiad and the work of the meeting of the counting committee, the faculty of the department of theory and practice of foreign languages came to the following conclusions:
