Report on the organization of a scientific seminar"New Approaches in Teaching and Education" in the Philology Faculty, April 19, 2018

According to the plan of the scientific seminar of the Philology  Faculty on April 19, 2018, the report "New Approaches in Teaching and Education" was presented.

As it is known, the goal of teaching a foreign language in the higher education at the present stage is to master the students' communicative competencies, which will allow them to realize their knowledge, skills and skills for solving specific communicative tasks in real life situations. Foreign language acts as a means of communication, communicating with representatives of other nations, so that further culturological or intercultural approach to learning within the framework of the concept of "dialogue of cultures" continues in order to form polymeric literacy of students.

My course "Intercultural Aspects of Teaching Foreign Languages" for  1 st year master degree students of the specialty "Foreign Language: 2 Foreign Languages" also puts the above-mentioned goal at the forefront. To achieve this goal, we apply a variety of techniques and technologies.

The main task of teaching foreign languages at present is to teach the functional side of a foreign language and its more practical application. Foreign languages should be studied in indissoluble unity with the world and the culture of peoples speaking these languages.

A wide cultural background contributes both to the development of linguistic skills and skills (enriching vocabulary, the ability to translate, the ability to work with phraseological units), and introduces the learner to specific aspects of foreign culture. This period allows you to remove many of the difficulties that students face.

Watching  videos, solving case studies, reading and discussing authentic newspaper texts is the incomplete list used by us in the classroom and teaching methods.

Wtook into consideration   two methods - the "Discussion" and "Speaker" methods in detail, which are actively used in foreign methodology and were tested by me during the internship in America, and now on the course on intercultural communication.

Then there was a discussion, questions were asked by the seminar participants.

Thus, the study of foreign languages is impossible in isolation from the culture of the country whose language is being studied and  introduction of new approaches into the learning process  provides the main goal of learning  foreign language  - the formation of communicative skills for adequate intercultural communication.
