Within the framework of the Science Day on April 13, 2022, a scientific seminar dedicated to Doctor of Philology, Professor Ogaz Arystangalievich Sultanyaev was held at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. The seminar was attended by students, doctoral students and teachers of the Faculty of Philology.
Professor O.A. Sultanyaev personified the best features of the "era and culture that nurtured him." His research interests were related to the development of topical issues of linguistics in the field of onomasiology and word formation, lexicology and phraseology, onomastics and Turkology, methods of teaching Russian and Kazakh languages not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Russia.
The welcoming speech was made by the head of the Department, Ph.D., Professor E.A. Zhuravleva, who congratulated those present on the Day of Science, wished success in the scientific field. The program of the celebration of the Day of Science will include various events: scientific and methodological seminars, open classes, speeches by foreign scientists, etc.
Professor Zh.N. Zhunusova made a report on Professor Ogaz Arystangalievich Sultanyaev, telling about his circle of scientific interests, about the memories of his famous colleagues, students.
1st-year doctoral students of the specialty "Philology" Elmira Zadanova and Aliya Nugumanova told about the professor's life path and his scientific contribution to Kazakh linguistics. Ekaterina Merkulova in her speech dwelt in more detail on one of the professor's works "The Word in context" (Kokshetau, 2001).
At the end of the seminar, the results were summed up: the Ph.D., Associate Professor G.K. Ayupova, responsible for the scientific work of the department, noted in her speech that Professor Zh.N. Zhunusova traditionally conducts scientific seminars on Kazakh linguistic schools and dedicates them to outstanding scientists of Kazakhstan (G.A. Meiramov, V.A. Isengalieva, E.D. Suleimenova).
