In December 2017 second year MA students in the specialty “6M011900 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” had a research stay in the oldest higher education institution of Romania - Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iasi (Universitatea “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” Iaşi). Iasi University was founded in 1860 and is located in the city of Iasi. The university is a prestigious educational institution on a national and international level with more than 38 thousand students studying at 15 faculties.

Within two weeks of training at the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department of the Faculty of Letters our MA students had an opportunity to listen to lectures of professors A. Poriciuc and R. Albu, visit a master class on methods of teaching English by professor Stefan Colibaba, hold discussions with Professor Rodica Dimitriu on Applied Linguistics and take part in a meeting with Professor Dana Badulescu. Graduate students attended classes of English language teachers Camelia Archip and Carnelia Neagu at “Eminescu” Secondary School of Iasi, where they shared with the Romanian students some information about Kazakhstan, the Kazakh culture and language and told them about our university. In the library of the Iasi University young researchers worked with an electronic portal and collected materials on the theme of their master theses. All undergraduates were granted access to download articles and electronic textbooks in the database of Scopus, Springer, Wiley, Web of Science, etc. The rich scientific fund of the British Council Library at the University of Iasi also gave them the opportunity to collect materials on the main theme of their studies.

We would like to express special thanks to the head of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Department, PhD, Professor Rodica Dimitriu for the high level of organization of the research stay of ENU undergraduates at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University Iasi.
