Between the period October 1 – October 27, 2019 the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, according to the program of a short-term invitation of foreign professors of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is hosting Larisa Turusheva, doctor of philological sciences, professor from the EKA University of Applied Sciences, Riga, Latvia, for lecturing M.A. students of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department, the Faculty of Philology.
Professor L. Turusheva will be reading such theoretical courses for first-year undergraduates of the Education Program “7M01719 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” as “Fundamentals of Rhetoric and Oratory” and “Academic English”.
The short-term visit program of the visiting professor to ENU includes meetings with the university faculty, scientific seminars at the Faculty of Philology and the International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Art of Persuasion and Communication: Developing Speaking Skills” with the participation of employers of the Education Program “7M01719 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”.
Professor Larisha Turusheva first visited the L.N. Gumilyov ENU in April 2019 under the international teacher exchange program Erasmus +. Currently, further close cooperation between universities in Kazakhstan and Latvia is being planned.
On the first day of her visit, the visiting professor visited the International Office, met with the Dean of the Faculty of Philology A.B. Beisenbay, where the colleagues discussed a work plan and joint scientific events at the Faculty and the department. The lecture course of the visiting professor is held daily at the K. Nasyri Tatar Cultural Center (lecture room 224, the educational and laboratory building No. 5, ENU).
