ROUND TABLE on START-UP projects for students of the Faculty of Philology

On February 27, 2018 the Faculty of Philology hosted a round table “Opportunities for Integration of Academic and Business Environment in Modern Realities” for students of specialties “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”, “Translation Studies”, “Foreign Philology”. This event was held in the framework of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU Roadmap on the implementation of the State Program “Digital Kazakhstan” for the years 2018-2022. 

The round table was held on the basis of the Youth Business Incubator of the Technologies Commercialization Department of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU. Moderator of the discussions – Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Zh. ​​Beisembayeva introduced the special speakers: Aibolat Essentemirov – Founder of the Youth Business Incubator, Alexander Yastrebov – Director of the “AT Services” Translation Agency, a consecutive and simultaneous interpreter and Arslan Darimov – Chief Executive Officer of the “Rocket Study” Educational Center. Each of them, as the head of a business structure, shared with his students their experience in starting, managing and maintaining business. 

Of particular interest was the presentation by Aibolat Essentemirov on the contest of projects for young start-ups from among the students of the universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including ENU, where the main requirement is to download a 3-minute video about their “business” on the website of the Youth Business Incubator. The best projects, as a rule, receive financing, free rental of premises in the START-UP building, financial and legal support. Alexander Yastrebov told the students of the Faculty of Philology how to open a translation agency and get the best customer-clients of translation services, about what pitfalls there are and how best to avoid them. Arslan Darimov is now the owner of ten language centers across Kazakhstan, and he told his listeners how to organize a business structure to provide educational services. 

Students received answers to their numerous questions and received a certain charge for further personal development, having seen the examples of how business and education can be combined today, how you can launch your project without statutory capital and how you can find support from your university.
