Round table “Morality and health of the nation”

On 19 October 2017 teachers of the department of practical Kazakh language held a round table named “Morality and Health of the Nation” in the scientific library of the L.N. Gumilev Eurasian National University. The participants of the event were Bakytzhan Otkelbayev, naib imam of “Khazret Sultan”, the main mosque of the republic; Shaisultanova Saule Talgatkyzy, the head of the transplantation coordination department of the National Scientific Center of Cardiac Surgery; Gulmira Smaylova, the employee of the center and the recipient; and the researchers of the library, teachers, students. The round table was opened with the introduction of guests by Gulbaira Tynybekkyzy Otelbay, the associate professor of the department of practical Kazakh language.

The purpose of the meeting was to broaden the spiritual horizon, to realize life values paying attention to the health of humanity, to get answers to those questions of students concerning medicine and religion. Mansurov Nurlan Berdenuly, presenter of the discussion and the associate professor of the department drew the audience's attention to the video and a story about the morality, health, transplantations of the organs that were conducted in our country.

Naib imam of the mosque «Khazret Sultan» B. Otkelbayev explained the meaning of the word «Imandylyq» to students, enlarging the definition given on the slide: «Morality is observance of purity, avoidance of lies, getting good knowledge, diligence, proper nutrition, engaging in spiritual and useful deeds, caring for parents, loved ones and the whole humanity and other propitious actions».

S. Shaisultanova made a commentary on her presentation, told about the harmful factors, which different organs may suffer from. Since 2012, about 60 cardiac transplants and thousand other transplantation surgeries have been operated in Kazakhstan. There are still many little children and adolescents, middle-aged and elderly people on the waiting list. She also added that the issue of organ transplantation was discussed among representatives of the DMUK and naib imams of the mosque several times since 2012, and many meetings and seminars were held.

B. Otkelbayev confirmed: «Religion and science useful to people are very close to each other and support each other. The word «medicine» is a combination of two words from Arabic «medet-aid» and «Sina-Avicenna», that is, Avicenna's help to humanity. However, life of the donor and the patient should not be threatened by new scientific medical inventions.»

The roundtable participants got questions from listeners. The guests answered the questions of teachers Akhmetova Karlygash, Baibolat Lyazat, Ashenova Altynay and students Yermekbev Ulykbek (P-22), Imankulov Altynkhan (TTTiT-14) and the rest of the youth. What are the requirements for organ transplantation? The doctor S.Shaisultanova answered: «The consent of the donor and his relatives is needed. The patient's and donor's blood group must match. The organ functioning and the brain death must be confirmed if the body belongs to the dead person.»

The question was asked: «What should we do to have good healthNaib imam Bakytzhan Otkelbayev replied: «We must go to bed early, get up early, do not eat, if we're not hungry and do not sit at the table for a long time. It is said, any disease is the result of overeating. Eating too much leads to such problems». Specialist of cardiology Saule Talgatkyzy also stressed, if you adhere to the above recommendations, then you can be healthy, and doing sport is also important.

«After I had a heart transplant, I went in for sports, took first place in the bowling in the World of Transplant Games in the Spanish city of Malaga and at the moment I do not worry about my health anymore,» the recipient Gulmira Smilova said.

 

Thus, the students, participants and listeners of this event got religious and cognitive information about morality and health. At the end of the meeting Ainur Naimanbai, the associate professor of the practical Kazakh language department, expressed gratitude to the guests and participants and handed over souvenirs.
