Doctoral students of the department “Foreign Philology”, along with conducting their scientific research, find time to improve their professional qualifications. So, a first-year doctoral student of the specialty “Foreign Philology” Nagima Manasbayeva took part in a training on the introduction of online courses in English on media literacy and STEM subjects, which was held from March 2 to 4, 2020. The organizers of the training are the regional office of the English language programs at the US Embassy. Specialist in English, Mary Catherine Boymer, introduced the seminar participants to the methods and techniques for conducting the course “The English for Media Literacy”. This course was developed by the University of Pennsylvania and is available to everyone on the Coursera platform. At the end of the training, participants were awarded certificates that will allow them to become facilitators of MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) in the future. The seminar was attended by representatives of various educational organizations of Kazakhstan.
