Day of Remembrance

On May 6, 2013, with the purpose of acquaintance with the history of our people, students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Faculty of Philology of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU with teachers of the Russian Philology Department Abaganova A.O. and Boztekeeva N.T. visited the museum-memorial complex of victims of political repressions and totalitarianism "ALZHIR". The complex was opened on May 31, 2007, on the initiative and with the participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev in the village of Akmol, Tselinograd district, Akmola region.

For many years in the Akmola camp more than 18 thousand motherland traitorswives were held. Women, whose fault was only that they were wives of arrested, shot "enemies of the people". Among them were the famous Soviet and Russian actress Tatyana Kirillovna Okunevskaya, the trainer in rhythmic gymnastics Maria Vartanovna Lisitsian, the movie actress Rakhil Mikhaylovna Messerer-Plisetskaya, the Soviet stage director and theatrical figure Natalia Ilyinichna Sats, the historian and archeographer Ksenia Serbina, the Soviet cinematographer and journalist Leah Lazarevna Solomyanskaya, mother of Bulat Okudzhava Ashkhen Stepanovna Nalbandyan; grandmother of the film director Daria Violina Lydia Mikhailovna Frenkel (Violina) and many others.

In addition to the museum itself, the museum-memorial complex consists of such objects as "Stalin's car", the monument "Arch of Sorrow", the composition "Despair and Impotence", the stele "Tears", barracks, and Alash Park. Also here is the Wall of Remembrance with names of women who served time in the camp "ALZHIR".
