Business meeting with representatives of "Oxford University Press"

Department of foreign languages of the faculty of Philology D. E. Sagimbayeva pays great attention to the updating of educational literature and closely cooperates with the foreign publishers. There is a large library Fund, which is used in the development of educational and methodical complex of disciplines "Foreign language", "Professionally oriented foreign language" "Foreign language (professional)" in the educational process.

       In order to familiarize teachers with new materials every year organizes meetings with leading companies, Inter Press, Express Publishing, which are the largest suppliers of textbooks in foreign languages such renowned publishers as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Macmillan, Pearson, Garnet, Collins ELT, Hachette, Hueber, Langenscheidt, Berlitz. Teaching staff of the Department show interest, express their suggestions about the need to obtain textbooks in the fields of specialties for undergraduate and graduate students.

     Within the framework of cooperation with leading publishing houses on September 26, 2019, the staff of the Department of foreign languages of the Eurasian national University met with the representative of Oxford University Press Martin Curtis, who is the regional Manager of Central Asia and the Middle East.

    At the meeting, the parties discussed how Oxford University Press can contribute to the successful teaching of foreign language and educational process to students. In particular, the agenda included the organization of methodological seminars to increase the qualification of teachers. Teachers received information about the Oxford English test a new online language proficiency test certified by the University of Oxford. Martin Curtis noted that the Eurasian national University can become an official Oxford English language testing Center and become a partner of Oxford University Press.

   Teaching staff of the Department showed a lively interest in the meeting. Many teachers learned about the information potential of the publishing house, raised questions about the methodology of classes and made proposals for close cooperation, which certainly contributes to the educational process and beneficial work. As a result of discussions, it was decided to hold seminars to improve the skills of teachers in the near future.
