On October 19, 2018, Faculty of Philology, General Linguistics and Translation Theory Department and Association of translators and translation companies organized the seminar: "Terminology – a cross-cutting discipline in the translators training”. This event was held in the form of a video conference, as Kazakh, European and Russian speakers took part in the seminar.
Dean of Faculty of Philology, Sholpan Kuzarovna Zharkynbekova, Professor, Doctor of Philology addressed the participants of the seminar with welcoming words. She introduced the speakers.
Speakers: Vinogradova T., project coordinator of SDL Trados and T-Service – the authorised reseller of SDL in Russia and the CIS, who made a presentation on the features of terminology management using SDL Trados program with specialized term storage, Naymushin B., personal interpreter of the President of Bulgaria, Candidate of philological sciences, Associate Professor of the theory and practice of translation in the New Bulgarian University, Master in methods of teaching conference interpreting of Geneva University, who shared his experience as a simultaneous interpreter, talking about the problems of terminology translation, Vorobyov O. V., senior teacher of General Linguistics and Translation Theory Department, who spoke about translation approaches in terminology, Arapbai A., CEO of Gala Translation company, who spoke on terminology projects in SmartCat program.
The seminar was attended by teachers, students, Master and Doctor students undergraduates and doctoral students of Faculty of Philology, as well as members of Association of translators and translation companies in Kazakhstan. The participants of the seminar exchanged the experience in the process of terminology translation.
