Cooperation with a Foreign University: Online Lectures and Seminars

In November 2020, the teaching staff of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department of the Faculty Philology held a number of scientific and methodological events with teachers of the English Language Methodology Department of the Termez State University (Uzbekistan) to exchange experience in teaching English and consider further plans for future cooperation.

In the period from 16 to 23 November,  2020 chair of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Zhanna A. ​​Beisembayeva and Associate Professor of the department Akzhan M. Abdykhalykova delivered lectures to 1-st year graduate students – future English teachers – lectures online on the Zoom platform. Various multimedia technologies for organizing the educational process, ensuring successful pedagogical activity, as well as requirements for the organization and planning of research activities and writing a master’s thesis in the direction of “Training of a Foreign Language Teacher” were presented to the attention of the listeners.

 

Three senior teachers of the English Language Methodology Department of Termez State University Shakhlo Babakhodjaeva, Rano Mardonova and Muborak Kattaboeva delivered lectures and conducted seminars in groups with 1-4 year students of the educational program “6В01719 / 5В011900 - Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages”. Lectures by foreign teachers were devoted to phonetics, online learning and teaching, student-centered learning, etc. All classes of foreign teachers were held on the Zoom platform.

 

The result of the joint two-week pedagogical activity of ENU and TSU was a scientific and methodological webinar on December 5, 2020 where Uzbek colleagues made scientific and methodological reports: Shakhlo Babakhodjaeva “Online Teaching Environment” and Rano Mardonova “Introduction to Communicative normative phonetics. Sound formation”. Graduates of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department ​​asked the speakers their questions, in particular, regarding the organization of the educational process at Termez State University in terms of online teaching and learning.

 

Further, chair of the host department  – Foreign Theory and Practice Languages Department ​​of ENU Zhannab A. Beisembayeva and chair of the English Language Methodology Department of TSU Shoira Djabbarova – the initiator of the exchange of experience in teaching English at  university – discussed issues of further cooperation between the two universities and two departments involved in training English teachers
