Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department

 

 The Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department was established on April 6, 2011 according to Order No. 483-41 of April 06, 2011 as a result of the division of the Foreign Philology Department into two related departments: Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department and Foreign Philology Department. At the origins is the Romano-Germanic Philology Department which was founded in the Saken Seifullin Tselinograd State Pedagogical Institute back in 1962.

The main function of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department is the training of qualified experts, bachelors and masters with proficiency in two foreign languages, deep theoretical and practical training, solid professional knowledge, skills and abilities corresponding to the state educational standards of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Bologna Convention.

The department provides teaching of linguodidactic and linguistic courses and gives undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to acquire theoretical and practical skills for teaching foreign languages in the system of secondary, vocational and higher education and to be highly competitive in the Kazakhstani labor market in the implementation of their professional activities: pedagogical, educational, research, etc.

The Department trains Bachelors of Education and Masters of Pedagogical Sciences in the following education programs:

– 6B01719/6B01721 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages

– 7M01719 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages (English as the first foreign language).

In different years, the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department was headed by professionals in the field of modern methodology of foreign language education: Candidate of Philology Ninel Yekibayeva (2006-2008), Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor Asiya Sulkarnayeva (2011-2012), Candidate of Pedagogy, Associate Professor Dosym Baidrakhmanov (2012-2017), Candidate of Philology Zhanargul Beisembayeva (2017-2021). Currently, the department is headed by PhD Lyazzat Beisenbaeva.

  Currently, the staff of the department includes 2 Doctors of Philology, 5 Candidates of Pedagogy, 5 Candidates of Philology, 8 PhDs, 7 Masters and 2 specialists.

Among the teachers of the department there are holders of the title “Best University Professor” (Roza Zhussupova, Gulmira Khamitova, Aigul Niyazova, Akzhan Abdykhalykova, Damira Akynova), fellows of the international program “Bolashak” (Bibigul Kussanova, Akzhan Abdykhalykova, Gulzhannat Dukembay, Raissa Latanova, Bibol Alipbay, Didara Xanova), Erasmus Mundus fellows (Akzhan Abdykhalykova, Zhanargul Beisembayeva, Dariga Anasheva, Roza Zhussupova, Aigul Niyazova, Bibigul Kussanova).

Native speakers of foreign languages work at the department according to the invitation programs of foreign specialists: August A. Garnsey (USA), Jose Humberto Baeza Estrada (USA, Mexico), Israel Beyene Moges (Ethiopia), Kebir Mohammed Jemal (Ethiopia), Jacob Levitan (USA), Giulio Scerbo (Italy), Maria Paola Gonzalez (Spain), Hulio Novillo Sanches de Pedro (Spain).

According to the Erasmus+ program, lectures were given to students of the department by professors of foreign universities: Francisco Rodríguez-Mesa (University of Korodova, Spain, 2018), Dana Badulescu (Alexandru Cuza University of Iasi, Romania, 2019), Larisa Turuševa (ESA University of Applied Sciences, Latvia, 2019), Mária Bláhova (University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia, 2019), Madeleine Danova (Sofia University named after Kliment Ohridsky, Bulgaria, 2020), Dorota Sylwia Majewicz (University of Gdansk, Poland, 2021), Razumovskaya V.A. (Siberian Federal University, Russia, 2021), Rustam Shadiev (Nanjing Pedagogical University, China, 2021), Jaysok Pradela (Silesian Technological University, Poland, 2022), A.U. Tajieva (Nukus State Pedagogical Institute, Uzbekistan, 2022), D.D. Mamyrbaeva (Nukus State Pedagogical Institute, Uzbekistan, 2022).

Graduates of a major in “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages ​​(basic English) work as teachers and lecturers of the English language at secondary educational institutions and higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Many graduates of the chair are employed in the language departments of the L.N.
