Language school in Poland

In the Center of Polish Language and Culture at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (Chief Physician, Professor Zhuravleva E.A.) there are language courses on learning Polish for everyone who studies or works at ENU. All students in all departments have the opportunity to study, discovering the culture and Polish language (from primary to secondary level, respectively) at the center.

The main advantage for all students of the Polish Language and Culture Center is the opportunity to go to Poland for a Summer Language School based on the results of their studies. The course lasts one month, and all fees are paid.

At the end of the academic year, students who showed good results in learning Polish had the opportunity to participate in a competition for a trip to a Summer Language School in Poland. Every year, the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics sends from 5 to 10 students to language courses, not only students of Russian philology, but also students of other specialties.

The summer of 2019 was a period full of new discoveries and unforgettable impressions for 5 ENU students. Students of the Faculty of Philology Maria Zhulikova (RF-32), Tamasha Babykpaeva (FL-32), Kamila Kolmogorova, Aruzhan Kurmanbaeva and Nurlybekkyzy Akzharkyn (RLL-12) spent 4 weeks at a Summer language school for foreigners in Poland.

The students studied at the leading universities of Wroclaw and Lublin. The groups included students from different countries of the world. Polish language classes are conducted by highly qualified specialists in accordance with new teaching methods that turn learning into a kind of journey to the country of the language. Classes were held every day and this intensive course gave its results, which students were able to test in practice, communicating in Polish with students from other countries and in the city with local residents.

It is important to note that teachers in Poland noted a good level of Polish language proficiency by Kazakh students, this is the merit of the Polish language teacher at ENU, Pan Daniel Zatorsky, a teacher from Poland who works at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.

At the language courses, the Polish side offered a rich program, including not only classes in the Polish language and electives to get acquainted with Polish culture, but also excursions, a film evening, a cruise on the Odra.

Wroclaw is a city of meetings, a city of bridges, dwarfs and bicycles, struck us with its architecture. During the tour, students got acquainted with the sights of the city, including the Centennial Hall, the Japanese Garden, and the multimedia fountain. In addition, a tour of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship was organized: students visited the town of Svidnica and saw a unique 14th-century structure - the Grodno Castle.

Lublin is a small but incredibly beautiful city in the east of Poland, which has welcomed students from all over the world at summer language courses. As part of the program, students got acquainted not only with the sights of Lublin, but also with neighboring cities such as Kozlivka, Kazimierz Dolny and Zamoshenie.

Language courses are not just about studying and interesting excursions. The course organizers arranged picnics, various games, cultural evenings and almost every evening a movie for students.

At the end of the Summer Language School, the students were solemnly awarded diplomas and certificates. Thanks to the summer courses, students have significantly increased their interest in the Polish language and culture. Undoubtedly, the time spent in Poland will remain in the memory of students for a long time.

According to the students, it was a great pleasure for them to live in a new country for them, to learn the language, culture of Poland and meet new people. During the time spent on the summer course, the students not only improved their knowledge of the Polish language, but also tasted many Polish national dishes, learned popular Polish songs and, of course, made many new friends from all over the world.
