On December 13-14, 2018, the International Symposium “Language, Culture, Science in a New Civilizational Context” dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The symposium was organized by several organizations at once, namely the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Scientific Expert Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan, the Representative Office of «Россотрудничество» in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kazakhstan Public Association "Alumni of Russian Universities", the Kazakhstan Public Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature.
Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University took an active part in the work of the International Symposium. The head of the department Beisembayeva Zh. A., the professor of the department Zhusupova R. F. and the 1st year graduate student of the specialty 6M011900 - “Foreign language: two foreign languages” Dyachenko O. V. spoke at the plenary session of the symposium held in the Kazakhstan branch of M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, with a report on “Scaffolding as a New Tool in Activation Stage of English Teaching for Non Linguistic Groups”. The symposium was attended by representatives of several Kazakhstani universities: the Kazakhstan branch of M. V. Lomonosov MSU, Sh. Walikhanov KSU, KazSLU, EAHI, KSMU, etc.
The idea of organizing an International Symposium and providing a platform for intensive and creative discussions belongs to Dr. N. Zh. Shaimerdenova, who is also celebrating her anniversary this year. The faculty of the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages of the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University sincerely congratulates Professor N. Zh. Shaimerdenova and wishes her further creative achievements and successes.
