VIIth International Scientific and Methodological Seminar "Actual issues of foreign philology and linguodidactics in the light of new tendency in the development of humanitarian education and intercultural communication"

April 5, 2019 in the framework of the university week of science, the Department of Foreign Philology of the Faculty of Philology together with the Department of Speech Studies and Intercultural Communication of  Minsk State Linguistic University of the Republic of Belarus and the Department of Romance-Germanic Linguistics and Foreign Literature of  Bashkir State Pedagogical University named after M.Akmulla, Ufa, Bashkortostan with the participation and support of the Center for Modernization of Education Management of Nur-Sultan held a standing VII International Research and Methodological Seminar "Actual issues of foreign philology and linguodidactics in the light of new tendency in the development of humanitarian education and intercultural communication".

The international forum was opened with a welcoming speech by the first Vice-Rector, Vice-Rector for academic work A.A.Moldazhanova. She said, in particular, about the importance of reforms in humanitarian education and the need to expand the international educational space. It is for this purpose that Gumilyov ENU opens its representative offices in foreign universities, just recently such an office was opened in Brussels. A.A.Moldazhanova congratulated everyone on the start of work and wished a successful dialogue. BSPU named after M.Akmulla was directly involved by video link. On the part of the partner university, the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Activities of BSPU named after Akmulla I.V. Kuderin made a speech. He also stressed the relevance of interaction in world education to improve the quality of training modern specialists. Among the guests of the seminar was a foreign expert Michael Nader, he also greeted the participants and said that it’s not the first time he attends the activities at the department of foreign philology, and every time he sees creativity in its activities.

The scientific forum was moderated by the Head of the Department of Foreign Philology Gumilyov ENU prof. A.E.Bizhkenova and the department of Roman-Germanic linguistics and foreign literature prof. T.A. Burkova from BSPU named after Akmulla  via video link. The first Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs A.A.Moldazhanova, a foreign expert Michael Nader addressed the participants of the international forum with a welcoming speech and a welcome word was addressed from the head of the department  of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after. Belarusian scientists from  Minsk State Linguistic University associate professors M.A. Gladko and E.P.Mayuk, Deputy Director of the Center of Modernization of the City Administration of Education R.K.Kaskabayeva, Professor of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Akmulla T.L.Selitrina (on-line connection), foreign expert from Germany, Dr. Renate Byrner-Kocam, associate professor of the Pavlodar State Pedagogical University named after Toraigyrov R.S.Saurbaev, associate professor of the Russian language department of Gumilyov Eurasian National University L.G Mukazhanova. took part in the seminar. Also, the Head of the Department of Foreign Philology of Gumilyov Eurasian National University Professor A.E. Bizhkenova made a report. The topics of the reports cover the current problems of foreign language education, foreign literature, speech strategies of communication, culture and language, issues of updating and internationalization of the content of domestic education. All reports of the participants are published in a separate collection, which can be found in the scientific library of the Gumilyov ENU.

The seminar resulted in a real scientific discussion and constructive exchange of views. In particular, Professor BSPU named after Akmulla R.K. Garipov offered in response to the report of prof. A.E. Bizhkenova create a vocabulary of semantic primitives and stereotypes to overcome the difficulties in intercultural communication between students and foreign teachers. Associate Professor M.L.Anafinova, commenting on the report of prof. T.L, Selitrina proposed to work together on the analysis of the quality of the mass literature of the postmodern period.

In conclusion, prof. A.E.Bizhkenova thanked all the speakers and listeners for the fruitful work and presented letters of thanks on behalf of the First Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector for Academic Work of Gumilyov Eurasian National University A.A.Moldazhanova.

The one-day seminar included a master class with the use of new didactic technologies at lectures after the lunch break, which was attended by students and undergraduates of the Department of Foreign Philology. The indicative lesson was conducted by Professor of the Department K.N.Bulatbaeva.
