V International scientific student conference "Russian Language in the 21st Century: Young Researches"

     Mid-February 2018 became significant for Russian students who gathered to participate in the international anniversary student scientific conference "The Russian Language in the 21st Century: Young Researches ".  More than 100 students and schoolchildren of educational institutions of Kazakhstan and countries of near and far abroad participated in the V student conference: educational institutions of Russia (Kazan, Tula, Omsk, Surgut), the Netherlands, China, Ukraine (Kiev, Sumy), Poland (Katowice, Sosnowiec) and cities of Kazakhstan (Astana, Almaty, Karaganda, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Shymkent, etc.).  Together with the students, pupils of secondary schools and gymnasiums of Astana and Karaganda also took part in the conference.  It is important to note that for full-time participation a group of students from Omsk comes every year, and in 2018 students from Surgut came to Astana for full-time participation.

     Holding the International student conference has become a good tradition of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics http://ff.enu.kz/subpage/kafedra-teoreticheskoj-i-prikladnoj-lingvistiki. The co-organizers of the conference are Russian universities: the L.N. Tolstoy Tula State Pedagogical University http://tsput.ru/,  and Kazan (Privolzhsky) Federal University  http://kpfu.ru/. The purpose of such kind of scientific activities is to activate the cognitive interest of students and schoolchildren, to engage in research and development of research culture of students.  The conference examined the problems of the condition and development of the modern Russian language, the peculiarities of the linguistic and cultural space of the region, the language of the media, intercultural communication, and the study of the linguistic diversity of literary works.  These aspects are connected with the priority direction of scientific research of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics.

      Prior to the direct connection of universities, the participants got acquainted with the history, activities and directions of development of partner universities by looking at the presentations of ENU, TSPU and KFU.

      The opening of the conference and the plenary session were online.  Dean of the Faculty of Philology Sh.K.  Zharkynbekova, opening the conference, greeted the participants and gave a speech to the honorable guests of the conference and the representatives of the universities: V.A.  Nefedov, Head of the Russian cooperation office in the Republic of Kazakhstan; K.A.  Podrezov, Vice-rector for research work of the TSPU named after L.N. Tolstoy (Russia); I.E. Yarmakeeva, Deputy Director for Scientific Activities of the Institute of Philology and         Intercultural Communication named after L. Tolstoy KFU (Russia);   N.A.  Gavrilina, Dean of the Faculty of Russian Philology and Documentation of L.N.  Tolstoy TSPU (Russia); T.G.  Bochina, Head of the Higher School of Russian Language and Intercultural Communication of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication of L. Tolstoy KFU (Russia);  E.L. Raikhlina, Head of the Department of Russian Language and Literature of L.N.Tolstoy TSPU (Russia); A.Z.  Kozhakhmetova, Representative of the Education Department of Astana (Kazakhstan); Ye.A.  Zhuravleva, Head of Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics of ENU.

      In the section held online, students of the TSPU, ENU, KFU, KF MSU alternately presented papers: Kilmamatova L. "Reflecting the culture of the people in the dialectical vocabulary of settlements along the Nepryadva River" (Tula, Russia), Zhulikova M.  "Choosing a language in online communication between students of Kazakhstan" (Astana, Kazakhstan), Guo Xueyao "Semantic features of nouns with the value of evaluation of behavior, actions and professional qualities, attitude to work" (Kazan, Russia - China);  Taigarina D. “Symbols of light and color in the poetic book of Andrei Bely "Gold in Azure" (Astana, Kazakhstan).  All the reports aroused the interest of the audience, many questions and a lively discussion.

     Then the work continued on the sections, already on the sites of three colleges-co-organizers (ENU, TSPU and KFU).  Participants were able to present their scientific research, presentations, answer questions. 

     At the final plenary session, the winners were summed up and they were presented to the ENU.  The places were distributed in a following way: Diploma students became:

            The cultural program included a visit to the Museum of Literature, the Gumilyov Museum-study, personal classrooms of the Philological Faculty (named after Abay, Pushkin room, Center for Polish language and culture), etc. The Associate Professor Yermekova Zh.T conducted the excursion.

By the beginning of the conference, the department published a collection of scientific articles of the conference participants. 

After the conference, the organizers received many letters from representatives of different educational institutions expressing gratitude for the high level of this scientific event.  Foreign guests had an opportunity to examine the capital of Kazakhstan on the sightseeing tour "Astana - the city of the third millennium" with a visit to the "Astana-Baiterek" complex.
