On January 26, 2019, the Department of Translation Theory and Practice held a meeting with school students of Astana 75 school. The event was organized by senior lecturers Oleg Vorobyev and Assem Baidildinova who are also practising interpreters.
The Department of Translation Theory and Practice Manshuk Yeskindirova made a welcoming speech to the participants. She told about the opportunities and benefits of training in the specialty of 5B020700 – Translation Studies at L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
Assem Baidildinova told about the profession of a translator, explaining the difference in simultaneous and consecutive translation. The guys listened with interest, actively asking questions.
Oleg Vorobyev told about features of work of a simultaneous interpreter in a specialized booth. The guys tried to translate synchronously and consecutively.
This event contributed to the career guidance work among school students.
