Awakening interest of modern youth to reading

In modern society, people began to read less. The rhythm of life accelerated, the set of information sources increased. Someone replaced reading by radio and television, and someone plunged into virtual worlds. So, according to one of the world's leading companies exploring the book market, India, Thailand and China are in the top ten most reading countries. The inhabitants of these countries spend on reading an average of 10, 9, and 8 hours per week, respectively.

In this regard, in the Eurasian National University after L. N. Gumilyov November 20, 2018 Tulegenova Zh.B., Burkitbayeva A.G., Tuselbayeva Zh.A. teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology held an event on the theme "Awakening the interest of modern youth to reading." The event was attended by students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Information Technology. The meeting was held in the library of educational and laboratory building.

Representatives of the library Lyazzat Kabrashevna and Elvira Amantayevna noted in their speech that the library is really changing and trying to meet the requirements of readers of the XXI century. During the conversation, representatives of the library explained in detail that bachelor students have access to a huge number of electronic educational and scientific publications, but more often than not, students do not know how to use this electronic database.

During the meeting, students learned how to register for free on the world library sites due to the available access through the portals of the Eurasian National University.

It can be said that such meetings increase the interest of our students in reading and open up broad opportunities for studying modern world achievements in science.
