At the L.N.Gumilyov ENU there was held a Total dictation in the Russian language. In April 14th, the students took part in educational event «Total dictation in the Russian language», the platform of which was arranged in Philology Department under the initiate of Theoretical and applied Linguistics Department. (head Zhuravleva Ye. A.).
The total dictation in the Russian Language is arranged every year over the world. Since 2004, every year the number of participants from various countries is increasing; only in 2015, more than 110 000 participants of various age participated in the event. The motto of the total dictation is: «To write correctly is flamboyant». Basic principles are voluntary participation, kindness to all participants, a right of all participants to participate, a principle of anonymity, a professional control of philologists, unity of time, text of dictation, rules and evaluation criteria. Traditionally, dictation takes place at the same time (adjusted for time zones) in different cities of the world. This year, the dictation was carried out in 75 countries, in Kazakhstan, in 14 localities. Astana takes part in this educational event for the first time, three sites were opened in the city, one of them in ENU.
To enroll on the dictation was possible by means of e-registration. The idea of checking spelling correctness attracted not only the students from various faculties, universities, but also from inhabitants from the whole Astana. In the event 120 participants. The greeting word was from Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Koropchenko A. A., Dean of Philology facultF Sh. K. According to the organizers, the authors of the dictation text are famous writers. This year the author of the text was a teacher in literature and writer Guzel Yakhina, all participants were able to listen online to her greeting word and to the author's reading. Also, in online mode, the participants filled in the original forms of the dictation and got acquainted with some rules of the Russian language.
For the dictation reading were invited the members of science and culture. On the platform of ENU the text was read by the Dean of Philology Faculty Sh. K. Zharkynbekova.
It is important to note that not only students-philologists and humanitarian registered actively (majors “Sociology”, “Social work”, “History”), but also the students of such majors as “Computer engineering and software", "Informative systems", "Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications", "Physics", " Mathematics”.
Those who wished to write the dictation was more than the planned number of places at ENU platform and as the participants were gathered, the program of registration on ENU website was automatically closed. All students were very pleased with the participation in this event and now look forward to the results. The Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics plans to increase the number of seats next year to cover all comers.
Application forms, on which the participants wrote the dictation, coded, this will allow each participant to know their results by logging into their personal account on the website of the Total Dictation. In ENU the results will be announced on April 23, the participants who showed excellent results will be awarded with Diplomas.
