Negotiations on Double-Degree Program in Katowice

On May 24, 2018 Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Zh. Beisembaeva arrived in Silesian University in Katowice (the building being in Sosnowiec) to conduct negotiations on the possibility of opening a double-degree program between the L.N. Gumilyov ENU and tis Polish university in the framework of the master’s program in “English Teachers Training”. Coordinator of negotiations from the Silesian side is the director of the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​of the University of Silesia in Katowice, PhD, Professor Adam Wojtaszek.

The Kazakh-Polish relations in the field of higher education and science received a strong basis for further development during the Polish-Kazakhstan Forum of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions held in Poland on April 18, 2018. The organizers of the forum – the Council of Rectors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Conference of Rectors of Polish Academic Schools (KRASP) – signed an agreement on cooperation, as well as many Kazakhstani and Polish educational institutions.

These talks with the University of Silesia in Katowice took place within the framework of the forum. Cooperation between the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department of the ENU and the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​of the Silesian University began in October 2017 in the form of electronic correspondence and video-talks. At the moment, the both sides are actively working on drafting a Master Agreement and a draft joint curriculum. Professor Adam Wojtaszek plans to visit Astana and the L.N. Gumilyov ENU with a short-term working visit at the end of May during his business trip to Kazakhstan universities in Almaty
