English language training based on the resources of the online MOOC courses

Currently at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Nur-Sultan city the recruitment meetings of applicants for ‘American English MOOC Facilitated Sessions’ Project is conducted. The project is administrated by the Teachers of English Association of the RK (KazTEA) and involves three sections within the U.S. Mission Kazakhstan: Regional English Language Office, Cultural Affairs Office and American Corners / Spaces. The project will enhance the use of the digital resources and their embedding into the EFL and STEM training programs at Kazakhstani educational institutions. The duration of the project is from January till May, 2020. The ‘American English MOOC Facilitated Sessions’ Project will cover two AE MOOCs: ‘English for STEM’ and ‘English for Media Literacy’ which will run for 7 weeks each.

The Project target audience is EFL and STEM pre- and in-service teachers with level of English: A2+. The requirements are filled in application form, language proficiency test and interview. The speaking part is conducted by Jacob Levitan, international program “Bolashak” scholar, alumni of Washington University in Saint Luis.
