Research Stay in Kazakhstani Partner University

Master students with a major in 6M011900 Foreign Languages: Two Foreign Languages Akzhurek Altynbayeva, Bibiaisha Tursunova, José Umberto and Gaukhar Altynbayeva had a 10-day research stay in one of the ENU’s Kazakhstani partner universities the al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty in the period between February 28, 2018 and March 10, 2018.

The KazNU’s Institute of Advanced Learning and Further Studies was engaged in organizing and conducting the research internship  of ENU master students in Almaty university. According to the plan the ENU master students attended a full compulsory course of 72 hours, including such courses as Storytelling in Teaching ESL, Critical Thinking, Parables, How to Write Master Thesis” held by the Head of the Foreign Languages Department, Candidate of Philology , Associate Professor A. Moldagaliyeva.

Within the framework of the seminar organized for ENU master students by the KazNU’s Foreign Languages Department, the undergraduates made presentations on their master theses, and the listening professors presented them to passive, active and interactive forms of instruction. The main directions of the seminar were:

• difference between passive, active and interactive teaching methods;

• familiarization with the philological and pedagogical methods of research; and

• reflection.

The ENU master students received some necessary information and materials on their research areas in the universitys library, the Republican Scientific and Technical Library and the National Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
