On October 23, 2020, the X International Scientific Conference “Topical Issues of Romano-Germanic Philology and Foreign Language Teaching Methods” was organized and hosted by th Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with its university-partners including the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University represented by the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department. The current conference was attended by speakers from such leading universities in the world as Moscow State Regional University (Russia), Minsk State Linguistic University (Belarus), Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan), Novi Sad University (Serbia), Sam Houston State University (USA).
The work of the International conference began with a welcoming speech by the head of the Research Office of the Francisk Skorina GSU, Candidate of Physics and Mathematics, Associate Professor Ruslan V. Borodich and Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the host university, Candidate in Philology, Associate Professor Yelena V. Sazhina, who initiated this international scientific event and then acted as its moderator.
The participants of the international conference discussed such topical issues as the use of online technologies in the modern pedagogical process at university, digital literacy of teachers and their students; systems for assessing foreign pronunciation skills; scientific dialogue; monolingual and polylingual speech in terms of foreign language teaching methodology.
The L.N. Gumilyov ENU was represented at the plenary session by 4 keynote reports from: Gulzhan M/ Gauriyeva, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department entitled “GLOBAL EDUCATION: LEARNING WITH THE WORLD”; Roza F. Zhusupova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department and Kebir Mohammed Jemal, a graduate student of Nazarbayev University with a joint report “EXPLORING MOOC FACILITATED SESSIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF SCHOOLACH TEERS”; Aida M. Tulegenova, M.A., senior lecturer of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department, deputy dean of the Philological Faculty “DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS OF THE XXI CENTURY THROUGH DIGITAL STORITELLING”; Akzhan M. Abdykhalykova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department, Jose Humberto Baeza Estrada, M.A., an English teacher of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department and Zhanna A Beisembaeva, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department with a joint report “ONLINE PROGRAMS FOR ASSESSING THE KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENTS IN THE MODERN SYSTEM OF HIGHER EDUCATION”.
Scientific events with the participation of two partner universities – ENU and GSU – are held annually thanks to close scientific and partner cooperation of the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of GSU Yelena V. Sazhina and Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department of ENU Zhanna A. Beisembayeva.
It is also planned to hold this year an online research internship for ENU second-year master students in the Francisk Skorina GSU under the supervision of the Dean Yelena V. Sazhina
