METHODICAL DECADE AT THE FACULTY OF PHILOLOGY

As part of the implementation of the “Digital Kazakhstan” state program, the L.N. Gumilyov ENU is holding Methodical Decade entitled “Creating an Innovative Educational Environment”, which gathers the teaching staff from all faculties to exchange best practices and improve the methodological culture of the university teacher in the context of the digitalization of the educational process and the transition of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU to the “University 4.0” model. The theme and format of the Methodical Decade Days are various: these are lectures, master classes, workshops, round table discussions and training seminars of experienced lecturers in Kazakh, Russian and English.
On January 26, 2018, within the framework of the Methodical Decade Days at the Faculty of Philology, with the support of the staff of the Otyrar Library, we organized an exhibition of the works of the faculty’s teaching staff, which attracted a great deal of attention from participants of the Methodical Decade, and the Round Table “Multilingual Education and Its Demand”. The followings reports of professors of the philological faculty were presented to the guests and participants of the round table: “Innovative Technologies in Teaching Foreign Languages” (candidate of pedagogy, acting professor of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Chair R.Zhussupova), “Linguistics Without Boundaries: Vectors of Innovative Self-Change” (doctor of philology, Professor of the Theoretical and Applied Linguistics Chair M.Nurtazina), “Status and Prospects in Learning French in Kazakhstan” (PhD, Acting Professor of the Foreign Philology Chair G.Sarsekeyeva), “Multilingualism: Basis for the Formation of Polyculture” (MA, trainee G.Musabayeva).

The Round table discussions of the participants touched upon the issues relevant to modern pedagogical science: the use of online technologies and Internet resources in teaching foreign languages, creation of evaluation criteria, updated content of methodological complexes of disciplines, the importance of studying French as the first foreign language, the technical support of the education process, etc. All the speakers of the round table presented the main conclusions on their reports in the form of abstracts to be further published in the proceedings of this methodical event.
