Foreign professors came to the department of theory and practice of foreign languages on the program Erasmus + for the period from May 2 to May 16, 2018. These are the leading scholars, teachers of English at the Faculty of Literature, Languages, Arts and Humanities at the University of Valenciennes (France) Stephanie Schwerter and Jean Charles Meunier .
The lectures of French teachers were entirely devoted to intercultural communication, the theory of English and the theory of translation. All classes were based on the use of the "co-teaching" method, where invited professors conducted lectures and workshops in a couple, thereby increasing individual work with students and question-answer work. This new experience was especially liked by the students of the specialty "Foreign Language: two Foreign Languages (English)".
Another feature of the visiting professors was their involvement in the learning process all active and passive languages that students of the specialty (Russian, Kazakh, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, etc.) possess. The course of lectures began with a presentation about the University of Valenciennes and its training programs in English and French. Invited teachers came to Gumilev Eurasian national university with lectures in the last academic year.This year they first visited the Department of Theory and Practice of foreign languages and plan to continue active international cooperation with the philological faculty.
The Erasmus + program with the University of Valenciennes allows teachers and students who speak English and French to leave for a foreign university partner for 2 weeks (for teachers) and 1 semester (for students). The Memorandum of cooperation between the two universities was signed in 2016. At the moment, 3 students of the Faculty of Philology are trained at the University of Valenciennes, and 1 teacher spent 2 weeks in this institution on the Erasmus + program, reading courses for the French students in English (Sarzhanova A.B).
In the next 2018-2019 academic year, 3 students of the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages have the opportunity to visit this Erasmus + partner university and attend lectures of English and French professors.
Foreign professors were offered a cultural program in Astana (Astana Opera, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Baiterek), and on May 12, 2018, students of the 1-3 courses of the specialty “ Foreign Language: two foreign languages (English)” prepared a concert for invited teachers, where they tried to show the multinationality and unity of our state.
