This week, the Department of Theory and Practice of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology is visited by a professor from the University of Cordoba (Spain), PhD Francisco José Rodríguez Mesa. The professor chose the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University within the Erasmus Plus Teaching Program and reads lectures in English to the 3-rd-year students of specialty 5B011900 – “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” from 16 to 21 April this year. The course of lectures of the foreign professor includes such topics as “Italian Literature: from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance”, “European Literature”, “Popular Authors and Movements in the Italian National Literature”. During his stay in Astana, the teachers of the department introduced Professor Mesa to the sights of our city as well as to the rich culture of the Kazakh people.
On April 20, 2018 there was a meeting of Professor Mesa with teachers of the Faculty of Philology. The Dean of the Faculty Professor Zharkynbekova Sh.K. discussed with the Spanish professor the possibilities of further cooperation between the University of Cordoba and the L.N. Gumilyov ENU: the signing an agreement on the exchange of undergraduates and the possibility of a two-diploma education. Professor Mesa is also Head of the International Office of the University of Cordoba and he showed a special interest in the development of further close relations with our Faculty of Philology.
The University of Cordoba annually hosts students and undergraduates of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department under the Erasmus + program and academic mobility. Professor Mesa appreciates our students, who are currently studying at the Spanish university. Two of our students are studying this semester at the Spanish universities by the Erasmus+ scholarship: Moldir Amanzhol at the University of Cordoba and Aliya Makhmutova in Cadiz University.
