Lectures on translation at the Polish university SWPS

Head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department Zh. Beisembaeva traveled to Warsaw (Poland) in the framework of the international program of the European Union Erasmus+ on the exchange of teachers. The grant was awarded by one of the major Warsaw universities – University of Social Psychology and Humanities, specializing in English Language Translation Theory.

The purpose of the trip to this educational institution was to exchange pedagogical experience of the L.N. Gumilyov ENU in the field of training translators and teaching of translation and interpretation courses, in particular consecutive and simultaneous interpreting. It was associate professor Zh. Beisembaeva’s first participation in this project and she conducted lecture classes with students and undergraduates of the Faculty of Foreign Languages with a narrow specialization – interpreting. This experience allowed the lecturer presenting not only her own methods of teaching theory and practice of translation to foreign listeners, but also telling and visually demonstrating the numerous achievements of modern young Kazakhstan, its capital, whose 20th anniversary will be celebrated this year, the university itself and the great scientist whose name was given to our university.

The interest of Polish students and teachers in Kazakhstan was obvious. Professors of the English Language Department Pawel Pyrka and Marcin Szwed intend to participate in the program Erasmus + and choose L.N. Gumilyov ENU as a place of their next stay in September-October 2018. The Erasmus+ program allows Kazakhstani teachers and scientists demonstrating their own achievements and developments in the best European universities, share their experience, find and further develop scientific, research and partnership relations.
