The round table “The role of ICT in students’ scientific work” was held on November 16, 2017 by teachers of the Foreign languages department of Philology faculty.
The event was hosted by teachers of the Foreign languages department: A.D. Mukhatova, S.K. Mukanova, Kh.K. Zhankina and U.S. Nurgaliyeva. Among those actively involved there were students of first and third year of Information technologies faculty. They delivered reports and gave presentations on the following topics: “Microsoft Power Point is a tool for giving presentations” by A. Tulkubayeva, “The Internet is a leading source of information in scientific work” by M.Saginaliyev and “Linguistic terms and devices in MMO and video computer games as a source of building learner’s vocabulary” by A.Aldabergenov. A strong interest of the students in the topics of presentations provoked a lively debate. It is worth noting that the discussions were held in English. Students therefore had an opportunity to demonstrate their familiarity with both ICT and the language of international communication.
