Short-term visit of a foreign lecturer from Bulgaria

From October 15 to November 13 of this year Svetlana Atanasova-Dimitrova, professor at Veliko Tarnovo University, Bulgaria, worked as a guest lecturer at the department of foreign philology. For 4 weeks, she taught two courses in “Linguistics and Intercultural Communication” and “Gender Linguistics” in the Master's program, 2 years of study. During her visit, she held meetings with students and teaching staff of the department, as well as individual consultations with undergraduates and doctoral students of the specialty "Foreign philology". In the course of work on the subject “Linguistics and Intercultural Communication”, she tested interactive culturological training methods, during which undergraduates performed tasks such as recording in real conditions for a specified time with further interpretation of the audio content in English. This technique made it possible to compare the ethnocultural features of real communication in a relaxed atmosphere and the linguodidactic skills of undergraduates. Undergraduates also expressed great satisfaction with new types of training, as they allowed them to speak the foreign language being studied on topics close to them.

Professor S. Atanasova-Dimitrova took part in the international scientific-practical conference "Integration processes and raising the status of the language in the modern educational system" and spoke on the topic she developed together with the head of the department A.Ye.Bizhkenova "Ethnic and cultural aspect of speech communication: experience teaching the subject "Linguistics and intercultural communication".

Department members and doctoral students offered the professor a cultural program. So, she visited the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the anniversary concert of the National Artist Alibek Dnishev at the State Opera Theater, the Baiterek monument and other sights of the capital of Kazakhstan.
