Internationalization and integration: foreign experience

       In the framework of close cooperation with the International service SES-Senior Experten Service, Department of foreign languages of the faculty of Philology of the Eurasian national University named after L. N. Gumilyova invited an expert on the methodology of teaching English as a foreign language PhD Thomas Paeffgen.

During the project from 29.09.2019 to 26.10.2019 Doctor Paeffgen held a series of seminars on innovative methods of teaching English, focusing on the features of the organization of classes for non-linguistic specialties. Seminars covered such topics as “Modernization of modern higher education in the context of teaching foreign languages”, “Interactive methods of teaching foreign languages”, “New features of online platforms in teaching languages”, “Implementation of new technologies in the context of distance learning”, “CLIL in teaching school subjects in English”, “Debate Technology as way of developing critical thinking”, “Inclusive learning: strategies to create successful Inclusion”, “Assessment and evaluation in English classes”, “Mastering foreign language forms of written communication” and etc.


            All seminars were held in the format of an interactive dialogue, during which teachers were able to exchange experiences and get answers to their questions on the methodology and didactics of teaching English. Doctor T. Paeffgen and the teachers of the Department experimented with the method of team teaching of English.

        Doctor Thomas Paeffgen actively attend the classes of teachers of the Department in different faculties of the University. After the classes, they discussed the results with the teachers and gave some recommendations for improving the teaching of the foreign language.

 In conversation with the head of the Department of foreign languages ass.professor Sagimbayeva D. E., Doctor Thomas Paeffgen noted the high quality of teaching languages by our teachers, as well as the interest of students in learning English.
