On September 27, in St. Petersburg, with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, the XXI International Scientific Conference "Russian Studies and Modernity", organized under the auspices of MAPRYAL and held annually in the participating countries of the organizing committee, began its work.

This year, the venue of the scientific event significant for Russian language philologists was the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen, who received the baton from the University of Silesia (Katowice, Poland). The choice fell on RGPI them. A.I. Herzen is no accident: it is one of the oldest universities in Russia, founded in 1797 by the decree of the emperor as the St. Petersburg educational house. Exactly one hundred years ago, in 1918, it was transformed into the St. Petersburg Pedagogical Institute.

The conference was opened by the Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen Sergey Bogdanov, who made a welcoming speech. His address to the participants of the conference, the Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical Institute concluded by awarding diplomas to members of the organizing committee of the conference for their hard work in spreading the Russian language in their countries. So, among those awarded was Kadisha Rustembekovna Nurgali, Ph.D., professor, head of the department of Russian philology of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev.

At the plenary session, eleven reports of leading scholars on the current topics of the theory and practice of the Russian language and literature were heard.

The entire conference program is designed for three days. It is planned to hear about 140 philology scholars from 20 countries at six sections.

Thus, on the first day of the conference, reports on current issues of contemporary Russian linguistics and the practice of bilingual education in the modern multicultural space were heard and discussed. In the second section with the report "Historical information about the Russian language in its study at the university and school" was attended by L.G. Mukazhanova, professor of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilev.

On the second day, philology scholars will speak on the problems of intercultural communication in science and in education, new technologies and programs in teaching Russian as a foreign language in the language environment and outside the language environment.

The third day of the conference will be devoted to the issues of Russian literature and culture in the context of world humanitarian processes. The work of this section will be chaired by Ph.D., Professor, Head of the Department of Russian Philology of the L.N. Eurasian National University. Gumilyov, a member of the conference organizing committee K.R. Nurgali She will make a presentation on “Intertextual manifestations of deep cultural ties with the Russian and European poetic tradition in verses by V. Muratovsky”. Among the participants are speakers and other teachers of ENU. L.N. Gumilyov: Abaganova A.O., Zhantolgulova G.U., Asan A.K.

In addition to literary subjects, issues of new technologies and programs in teaching Russian as a foreign language in the language environment and outside the language environment will be discussed, as well as problems of translation as a means of intercultural communication.

The conference will conclude with a cultural program: guests are invited to take excursions “Dostoevsky in Petersburg” and “Pushkin in Petersburg”.
