Guest lecture for “Two Foreign Languages” students and undergraduates

On February 8, 2018 the philological faculty was visited by Prof. Dr., Dean of the Faculty of Philology and Pedagogical Sciences of the Suleyman Demirel University, President of the Kazakhstan Association of Applied Linguistics Azamat Akbarov with a guest lecture “TEACHING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN KAZAKHSTAN IN THE XXI CENTURY” for students, graduates and teachers of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department. Professor Azamat Akbarov was educated at leading universities in Asia and Europe (the Samarkand State University of Foreign Languages, Lahore University of Management, the Dalarna University) and shared his experience of studying abroad with their listeners.

During the lecture the professor touched upon such important for modern linguodidactics and applied linguistics topics as Bilingualism and Trilingualism Policy, Second Foreign Language Acquisition, Language – Culture Interaction, General Linguistics, Comparative Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. The lecture was fascinating for its relevance and importance of the issues raised. Students and undergraduates received exhaustive answers to numerous questions. The meeting continued in a discussion of further cooperation between the two faculties in the person of the Dean of the Philological Faculty Sh. Zharkynbekova and head of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department ​​Zh. Beisembayeva. It was about new joint projects, opportunities for participation in various international programs.
