ENU Strongly Supports Its Students During the Quarantine Period

Quarantine conditions turned out to be quite difficult for many teachers and students in our country: outdated technical equipment and software does not allow them to download computer applications and freely use online platforms, information services and online resources. And, of course, each educational institution tries in every possible way to solve the existing difficulties in order to provide high-quality technical support for the educational process.

The management of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University and the Informatization Department have found the best solution to this challenge: to provide teachers and students with university computers, often wholly new, for the use during the period of quarantine conditions of work and study.

At the moment, already 273 ENU employees (faculty, department employees and teaching support personnel) and 66 students are provided by the university with modern computers for the quarantine period.

Students of the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department are no exception. A foreign student from Mongolia Lashyn Zhanarbek, who is studying at ENU on an intergovernmental grant and lives in the ENU hostel for foreign professors and students, received an HP Monoblock and is already taking the most active online and offline participation in the study and social life of the faculty and department.

The department students Zhuldyz Sundetova, Azhar Eskaliyeva, Balmeken Yegemberdі, Aisaule Akhit and Altynsyrga Burkit, who live in the capital, have also received computers from the university. All of these students experienced serious technical difficulties that prevented them from fully participating in the educational process, where all classes, in particular lectures, are conducted on the basis of the corporate platform of the university Microsoft Teams. Moreover, training in the pedagogical study program “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” provides for the creation by future teachers of their own sites, podcasts, electronic shelves and repositories of English-language resources, which is also impossible without a good computer and software.

The Faculty of Philology and the Foreign Languages Theory and Practice Department express their gratitude to the management of the university and the Informatization Department for the support of the students who, in a difficult period for the whole country, can feel to be significant members of one big family – the Eurasian National University!
