L.N.Gumilyov ENU: integrative solution of state problems in the learning process

The state tasks of preparing foreign-language specialists for the development of trilingualism, the development of youth volunteering and the formation of environmental awareness in an integrative form are solved at the Department of Foreign Philology.

First-year undergraduates in the specialty "Foreign Philology" in the framework of the discipline "Comparative Linguodidactics" have developed cycles of lessons of environmental content. The lesson planning was carried out according to the cognitive-communicative technology of bilingual teaching of non-linguistic disciplines by Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, professor of the Department of Foreign Philology Bulatbaeva K.N., who is the main research associate of the project AP 05132519 "Ecologization of the university education system as an innovative way to modernize the spiritual consciousness of students" ( Project Manager - Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Prof. Dlimbetova G.K.).

At the same time, undergraduates selected environmental problems in various fields of production activity. A minimum of environmental problems was selected and the topics of the classes in English within the framework of a particular specialty were determined. Students selected different non-linguistic specialties. The developed cycles of classes involve the step-by-step formation and development of lexical, grammatical, speech and communicative foreign language competencies within the framework of environmental problems in a particular specialty. Thus, undergraduates acquire practical professional skills in the formation of foreign language competence of specialists in various fields of public life and industrial activity, the skills of developing curricula and study guides for a professional foreign language. In addition, undergraduates become eco-volunteers in the implementation of their developments during teaching practice.

So, on December 28, 2019, the audience of the eco-volunteer club was opened at the Faculty of Social Sciences of L.N.Gumilyov ENU, where undergraduate philologists of the  group MIF-12 Slanbek Zhanbota and Kadyrbekyzy Farida made one of the developments for the specialty "Architecture and Construction" on the theme "Green University - University of the 21st Century".

At the invitation of other faculties, undergraduate eco-volunteers of foreign philology can conduct classes in English for eco-volunteers in other non-linguistic specialties in order to actively engage the latter in the international environmental movement.
